Travel to the Kingdom of Bhutan is highly exquisite. Guided by its tourism policy of “High Value, Low Volume” Visas are required for travelling to Bhutan, and applications are processed through Bhutan WING TRIP TOURS and TREKS in conjunction with tour booking. No foreign mission abroad grants Bhutan tourist visas.

With the exception of visitors from India, Bangladesh and Maldives, all other visitors to Bhutan need a visa.
Indian, Bangladeshis and Maldivian nationals can obtain a visa at the port of entry on producing a valid passport with a minimum of 6-months validity (Indian nationals may also use their Voters Identity Card (VIC)).
All other tourists must obtain a visa clearance prior to travel to Bhutan. Visas are processed through an online system by your licensed Bhutanese tour operator. The visa will be processed by WING TRIP TOURS and TREK once the full payment of your holiday (including a USD $40 visa fee) has been wire transferred and received in the Tourism Council of Bhutan bank account. Once received the visa clearance will be processed within 72 working hours.
Visa applications are cleared in advance and a visa clearance document will be forwarded to you. The actual visas are stamped on the passports on arrival at the port of entry.
For travellers entering Bhutan by Air, the visa clearance document is required for check-in and boarding the flight to Bhutan. Travellers without a visa clearance document will not be permitted to board their flight.
For travellers entering the country by land from India, through the southern border towns of Phuentsholing/Samdrup Jongkhar, the actual visa is stamped on the passports on arrival. Travellers without a visa clearance document will not be permitted to enter the country.
Please make sure you have the necessary visas & documents required for other countries that you may transit through or visit before/after Bhutan.

Visitors may only experience Bhutan on an all-inclusive package tour for which a fixed daily tariff is set by the Royal Government / Tourism Council of Bhutan.
A tourist must pay a tourism levy known as the Sustainable Development Fee of USD 200 per night, which may be revised from time to time by the Competent Authority. The proceeds going toward carbon-neutral activities, and the development of a more sustainable tourism sector.
The SDF is the Sustainable Development Fee, a daily levy paid by visitors to support Bhutan’s development. Since the kingdom first opened its doors in 1974, guests have played a critical role in the country’s growth. As we reopen on September 23rd 2022, this partnership is once again evolving to enable us to protect and preserve our kingdom and its priceless assets. It also helps us to ensure that tourists visit in sustainable numbers and that we can continue to offer guests tranquility and an intimate experience.
The SDF is collected by the national exchequer and funds are allocated to various projects that enhance facilities, services and infrastructure for Bhutanese nationals and visitors, as well as funding free healthcare and education.
